Student & Professor - A Conversation with sense

An atheist professor of philosophy speaks to his class on the problem science has with God, The Almighty. He asks one of His new students to stand and.....
Prof: So you believe in God?
Student: Absolutely, sir.

Prof: Is God good?
Student: Sure.
Prof: Is God all-powerful?
Student : Yes.
Prof: My brother died of cancer even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God Didn't. How is this God good then? Hmm? (Student is silent.)
Prof: You can't answer, can you? Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?
Student :Yes.
Prof: Is Satan good?
Student : No.
Prof: Where does Satan come from?
Student : From...God.. .
Prof: That's right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
Student : Yes.
Prof: Evil is everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything. Correct?
Student : Yes.
Prof: So who created evil? (Student does not answer.)
Prof: Is there sickness? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don't they?
Student :Yes, sir.
Prof: So, who created them? (Student has no answer.)
Prof: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son...Have you ever seen God?
Student : No, sir.
Prof: Tell us if you have ever heard your God?
Student : No , sir.
Prof: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelled your God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God for that matter?
Student : No, sir. I'm afraid I haven't.
Prof: Yet you still believe in Him?
Student : Yes.
Prof: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your GOD doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?
Student : Nothing. I only have my faith.
Prof: Yes. Faith. And that is the problem science has.
Student : Professor, is there such a thing as heat?
Prof: Yes.
Student : What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?
Prof: Yes. What is night if there isn't darkness?
Student : You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light.... But if you have no light constantly, you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?
Prof: So what is the point you are making, young man?
Student : Sir, my point is your philosophical premise is flawed.
Prof: Flawed? Can you explain how?
Student : Sir, you are working on the premise of duality. You argue There is life and then there is death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life: just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
Prof: If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, yes, of course, I do.
Student : Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir? (The Professor shakes his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument is going.)
Student : Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a scientist but a preacher? (The class is in uproar.)
Student : Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor's brain? (The class breaks out into laughter.)
Student : Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor's brain, felt it, touched or smelled it?.....No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures, sir?(The room is silent. The professor stares at the student, his face unfathomable. )
Prof: I guess you'll have to take them on faith, son.
Student : That is it, sir.. The link between man & god is FAITH. That is all that keeps things moving & alive. You know who this young man was?

The Charles Schultz Philosophy

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schultz, the creator of the "Peanuts" comic strip. (You don't have to answer the questions.)
1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.
2. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.
3. Name the last five winners of the Miss America.
4. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.
5. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winner for best actor and actress.
6. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday. These are no second-rate achievers. They are the best in their fields. But the applause dies. Awards tarnish. Achievements are forgotten. Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners .

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:
1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.
2. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.
3. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.
4. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.
5. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with .

Easier? The lesson: The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the most credentials, the most money, or the most awards. They are the ones that care .

Self Appraisal

A little boy went into a drug store, reached for a soda carton and pulled it over to the telephone. He climbed onto the carton so that he could reach the buttons on the phone and proceeded to punch in seven digits.

The store-owner observed and listened to the conversation: The boy asked, "Lady, Can you give me the job of cutting your lawn? The woman replied, "I already have someone to cut my lawn." "Lady, I will cut your lawn for half the price of the person who cuts your lawn now." replied boy.

The woman responded that she was very satisfied with the person who was presently cutting her lawn. The little boy found more perseverance and offered, "Lady, I'll even sweep your curb and your sidewalk, so on Sunday you will have the prettiest lawn in all of North Palm beach,Florida."

Again the woman answered in the negative. With a smile on his face, the little boy replaced the receiver. The store-owner, who was listening to all this, walked over to the boy and said, "Son... I like your attitude; I like that positive spirit and would like to offer you a job."

The little boy replied, "No thanks, I was just checking my performance with the job I already have. I am the one who is working for that lady, I was talking to!"

Common sense

A farmer had the misfortune of owing a large sum of money to a village moneylender. The Moneylender, who was old and ugly, fancied the farmer's beautiful
Daughter. So he proposed a bargain.

He said he would forgo the farmer's debt if he could marry his
Daughter. Both the farmer and his daughter were horrified by the
Proposal.

So the cunning money-lender suggested that they let
Providence decide the matter. He told them that he would put a black
Pebble and a white pebble into an empty money bag. Then the girl would
Have to pick one pebble from the bag.

1) If she picked the black pebble, she would become his wife and her
father's debt would be forgiven.

2) If she picked the white pebble she need not marry him and her
father's debt would still be forgiven.

3) But if she refused to pick a pebble, her father would be thrown into
Jail.

They were standing on a pebble strewn path in the farmer's field. As
They talked, the moneylender bent over to pick up two pebbles. As he
Picked them up, the sharp-eyed girl noticed that he had picked up two
Black pebbles and put them into the bag.

He then asked the girl to pick
A pebble from the bag.

Now, imagine that you were standing in the field. What would you have
Done if you were the girl? If you had to advise her, what would you
Have told her?

Careful analysis would produce three possibilities:

1. The girl should refuse to take a pebble.

2. The girl should show that there were two black pebbles in the bag
And expose the money-lender as a cheat.

3. The girl should pick a black pebble and sacrifice herself in order
To save her father from his debt and imprisonment.

Take a moment to ponder over the story. The above story is used with
The hope that it will make us appreciate the difference between lateral
And logical thinking.

The girl's dilemma cannot be solved with
Traditional logical thinking. Think of the consequences if she chooses
The above logical answers.

What would you recommend to the Girl to do?

Well, here is what she did ....

The girl put her hand into the moneybag and drew out a pebble. Without
Looking at it, she fumbled and let it fall onto the pebble-strewn path
Where it immediately became lost among all the other pebbles.

"Oh, how clumsy of me," she said. "But never mind, if you look into the
Bag for the one that is left, you will be able to tell which pebble I
Picked."

Since the remaining pebble is black, it must be assumed that she had
Picked the white one. And since the money-lender dared not admit his
Dishonesty, the girl changed what seemed an impossible situation into
An extremely advantageous one.

MORAL OF THE STORY:
Most complex problems do have a solution. It is only that we don't
Attempt to think.

INTELLIGENCE

A naughty student was made to write 500 times on the board that he will not throw paper airplanes guess what he did....

BELIEF IN GOD

There was a young man who went overseas to study for quite a long time. When he returned, he asked his parents to find him a religious scholar or any expert who could answer his 3 Questions.

Finally, his parents were able to find a scholar.
Young man: Who are you? Can you answer my questions?
Scholar: I am one of God willing, I will be able to answer your questions.

Young man: Are you sure? A lot of Professors and experts were not able to answer my questions.
Scholar: I will try my best, with the help of God .

Young Man: I have 3 questions:
1. Does God exist? If so, show me His shape.
2. What is fate?
3. If Devil was created from the fire, why at the end he will be thrown to hell that is also created from fire. It certainly will not hurt him at all, since Devil and the hell were created from fire. Did God not think of it this far?

Suddenly, the Scholar slapped the young man's face very hard.
Young Man(feeling pain): Why do you get angry at me?

Scholar: I am not angry. The slap is my answer to your three questions.

Young Man: I really don't understand.
Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?

Young Man: Of course, I felt the pain.
Scholar: So do you believe that pain exists?

Young Man: Yes.
Scholar: Show me the shape of the pain!

Young Man: I cannot.
Scholar: That is my first answer. All of us feel God's existence without being able to see His shape... Last night, did you dream that you will be slapped by me?

Young Man: No.

Scholar: Did you ever think that you will get a slap from me, today?

Young Man: No.
Scholar: That is fate my second answer........ My hand that I used to slap you, what is it created from?

Young Man: It is created from flesh.
Scholar: How about your face, what is it created from?
Young Man: Flesh.

Scholar: How do you feel after I slapped you?

Young Man: In pain.

Scholar: Thats it. this is my third answer, Even though Devil and also the hell were created from the fire, if God wants,God willing , the hell will become a very painful place for devil.

God said: "If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you."

"Yes, I love God .He is my fountain of Life and My Savior. He keeps me going day & night. Without GOD , I am no one. But with GOD , I can do everything. GOD is my strength."

MOTHER

A teenager lived alone with his mother, & both of them loved each other very much. This teenager went to high school. But when he entered high school, he was the smallest in the class. But still his mother encouraged him & told him to join the school football team, & at the same time told him that she was not forcing him. But the young man loved football & decided to start practicing.

He tried his best at every practice. He never missed neither a single practice nor a game, but remained a bench warmer all the time. Four years passed by but he still didn't play a single game & was only bench warmer. But still his faithful mother was always in the stands, always with the word of encouragement for him.

When the young man went to college, he decided to try again. Everyone was sure he could never make the cut, but he did. The coach admitted that he kept him on the roster because he always put his heart & soul into every practice. & provided the other members with the spirit & encouragement they badly needed. The news that he had survived the “cut” thrilled him so much that he rushed to phone his mother. His mother shared his excitement. It was the end of his senior football season, & as the trotted onto the practice field shortly before the big play-off game, the coach met him with a telegram. The young man read it & become deathly silent. Swallowing hard he mumbled to the coach, “My mother died this morning. Is it all right if I miss practice today?” The coach put his arm gently around his shoulder & said, “Take the rest of the week off, son. And don't even plan to come back to the game on Saturday.”

“Saturday arrived, & the game was not going well. In the third quarter when the team was ten points behind, a silent young man quietly slipped into the empty locker room & put on his football gear. He ran onto the sidelines, the coach & his players were astounded to see their faithful teammate back so soon.

“Coach, please let me play. I've just got to play today” begged the teenager. The boy begged & begged & at last the coach gave in. The coach was scared to send the worst player in this final play-off game. But he decided to send him.

But before long, the coach, the players & everyone in the stands couldn't believe their eyes. This little unknown player who had never played before was doing everything right. The opposing team could not stop him. He ran, blocked & tackled like as star. His team started to triumph. The score was soon a tie. At the last minute, the teenager intercepted a pass & ran all the way for the winning touch down. The fans broke loose. His team mates hoisted him onto their shoulders. Such cheering you've never heard. Finally after the stands had emptied and the team had showered & left the locker room, the coach noticed that the teenager was silently sitting in a corner, all alone. The coach came to him & said, “Kid, I can't believe it. You were fantastic! Tell me what got into you?” He locked at the coach with tears in his eyes, & said, “Well you know my mom died, but did you know that my mom was blind?” The young man swallowed hard & forced a smile.

"Mom came to all my games but today was the first time she could see me play, & I wanted to show her I could do it."
